Kyla's Shetland Sheepdog's

Welcome to the Home of Kyla Shelties. I hope you
enjoy your stay. Please come back again soon.

The Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie), although resembling the
collie in miniature, was not bred down from the full size collie.
The sheltie is a small alert, rough-coated long hair working
dog with color ranging from golden to dark sable, black
or blue merle. He should stand between 13 and 16 inches
at the shoulder. The coat should be double: the outer coat
consisting of long, straight harsh hair; the under coat short,
furry and so dense as to give the entire coat its "stand off"
quality. The expression is alert, determined by medium,
dark almond shape eyes and high ear set that are naturally
tipped. The temperament of a sheltie is loyal,
gay and affectionate towards his owner.
The sheltie may be reserved towards strangers,
but he should not show fear or cringe around
strangers. The sheltie is not for everyone,
so please do your homework.
Research this breed. Contact breeders and ask
questions before you decide. Kyla Shelties is located in
Oneonta, Alabama. My goal is to breed to better the breed with
temperament and conformation my number one goal. All my
puppies are raised in the home not in a kennel with lots of
Tender Loving Care. I do screen all buyers and I ask a lot of
questions. Stud service is available to approved bitches only.
All information on this site has been gathered from
various books, etc. But most of the information was
gathered and given to me from good friends who helped
me on the subjects listed on this site.

There is a great deal of information on this wonderful
breed in books, magazines, and the world of the
internet. I suggest you find you a good, honest,
responsible breeder that is dedicated to the breed to
answer any questions you may have.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK--AS WITH ANY BREED, MAKE SURE THE
SHETLAND SHEEPDOG IS THE RIGHT BREED FOR YOU.
All of our adults and puppies have wonderful temperments and
dispositions, all litters are planned and are bred to
the AKC Standard nothing less. We are always striving
to better the breed. We average 2 litters a year.
If you are interested in a puppy check out our
puppies available page to see if we have any
puppies available.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
